Since we have been in Vegas life has really changed. Toby and I are adjusting to having Darin gone all the time. Toby really misses him. Sometimes in the morning when he gets up he looks for Darin. Lucky for me he is an easily distracted child, generally speaking at least.
Darin is adjusting to school. He gets up at 5am everday so that he can have 1.5-2 hours every morning at school before classes start so that he can study. When he comes home he unwinds for a little while and then usually studies for about 2 or more hours. He has taken this new challenge head on and I know that he is going to do great. Darin doesn't do anything half heartidly. There is so much information. I am often greatful that it is him and not me. I would have already dropped out.
On that same topic but not, Darin has decided to apply for an Army scholarship. We are really excited about the opportunity. He has a four year active duty comittment to them and then 4 in-active or active if he chooses, but they will pay for 100% of tuition, fees, and materials PLUS we get a $2000/month stipend while he is in school and then after he finishes he will be making a fairly decent salary for a debt free man. He will have a better chance to specialize if he chooses to do and they would pay for that too. To boot the training that he will receive in the army should be second to none. ***disclaimer*** I know what some of you are thinking and we thought it too. Deployments would only be for 90 if he was called up. He will only be a dentist, not a soldier. He goes in as an officer. ***
We prayed about it and know that this is the best decision for our family. We are very excited. Just wanted to share that news with you!
Also, we LOVE where we live. To most people we live WAAAAY out but really we have EVERYTHING that we need within miles of us. Everything is so close and convenient and we have family right down the road. Our ward is packed full of young families and we have great neighbors. I feel very blessed to have a friend right next door. Heavenly Father was really looking out for me on that one! We followed a prompting to come down here and get a house when we did and though it's not the house we came for, what we found is even better in more ways than we could have ever predicted. I can't wait to see what comes next! I am optomistic.

This is big news for you guys - and it sounds like a wonderful choice. I'm so happy to hear that Vegas is so much more than you ever hoped it would be.

i know you had a big decision to make and for what it is worth, i think you made a good one.
while vegas did serve its purpose for me, i'm thankful things are working out much better for you and your family. you have a long, hard road ahead of you and i'm glad to be able to support you and watch your family grow.

wow! that is really cool. i am glad you are happy with your move and know it was the right decision. but we miss you all something awful.
p.s. ty's hoping the lady he has been working for up here (she lives in vegas) will find him some work down there for a couple of weeks and maybe stay with you ;);)
